The Mile Swim is an event hosted by the Aquatics Department on Saturday morning at the pool. It is a challenge held at Horseshoe for both scouts and adult leaders to see who can swim a complete mile; 18 laps (36 lengths) of the 50 meter long Olympic sized swimming pool. There are no rules regarding the type of stroke so other than standing up in the shallow end or hanging off the wall anything goes. The event is based simply on completion rather than time (although most do attempt to complete it as fast as possible). If a scout or leader completes the Mile Swim, he receives recognition during Sunday Lunch and a special commemorative card.
